The Tacoma Symphony Chorus's annual stand-alone concert is a celebration of spring with music inspired by dance. According to Chorus Director Geoffrey Boers, "Dance will appear in many ways, some of the selections being actual dance music, such as Brahms's 'Lovesong Waltzes,' or a waltz scene from Offenbach's comedy 'The Pretty Perfume Girl.' Other music is about the 'dance' of love, such as Faure's Madrigal, and the French Canadian 'If my monk would dance.' Still other music evokes the dance of life, as in Rossini's songs. An undoubted highlight will be Sarah Hopkins's 'Past Life Melodies,' a striking setting of Australian Aboriginal overtone singing in which the singers 'dance' with departed ancestors."
