Overview
In honor of the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln, the TSO presents this musical celebration of the human spirit. Beethoven pays homage to the Count of Egmont, a Flemish warrior who took a strong stance against his Spanish oppressors. Copland's Lincoln Portrait memorializes the greatest American statesman with narration culled from the famous Gettysburg Address and other speeches. Mahler's "Titan" is a dramatic tone poem telling the story of a hero's triumph over life's adversities.
